summary_large_image for almost anything with a decent image — it takes far more space in the timeline and gets noticeably more clicks. Plain summary is for text-heavy links where the image is incidental.

What image size does X want?

For a large card, at least 300×157 and ideally 1200×628, under 5MB, in JPG, PNG, WebP or static GIF. The 1200×630 image you already made for Open Graph works fine — you do not need a second one.

Do I need to validate the card?

X retired its public card validator, so the practical test is posting the link in a draft and looking at the preview. If nothing appears, check that the tags are in the head, that the image URL is absolute, and that your page is not blocking the crawler in robots.txt.
